Permablitz!

 WANT A PERMABLITZ?
IMG 0930compressed

We have had a number of people express interest in a permablitz this year. Permablitzes offer so many rewards – it’s a fabulous day of conversation, learning, connection, and of course progressing your landscape design. From acreage to a small back yard, laying irrigation pipes, to weeding and everything in between, it’s a great skill share opportunity in a friendly environment. Children are always welcome as they are the permies of the future! If a blitz appeals to you, simply email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to submit an expression of interest and we will work with you to assist you in your day being a great success.

About Us

About Us

Ballarat Permaculture Guild provides a focus for people in and around Ballarat who are interested in living more sustainably through implementing permaculture design principles and practices in their daily lives. We are a practical group working together to increase our skills and experience. One of our priorities is to create opportunities for other members of the community to learn about permaculture or the practical skills that go with it! If Permaculture is new to you, our Permaculture page outlines some of the strategies Permaculture offers towards building a more sustainable and locally resilient future.

Permaculture Design Course 2019

Would you like to do a Permaculture Design Course in 2019?

Enrolments are now open

 for

Ballarat Permaculture Guild's 2019 PDC.

This PDC will run using the weekend format of 8 weekends from Jan to June, with one weekend every 3rd week (note some months have 2 weekends).

Dates :

Jan 19, 20
Feb 9, 10
March 2, 3 & 23, 24
April 13, 14
May 4, 5 & 25, 26
June 15, 16

This course is especially relevant for those who want a higher quality educational experience than a two week intensive allows.  The extended format allows you to integrate your learnings and apply them at home.  Timing of the course means that our site visits take place at the best 'weather' times of the year - and when gardens and farms are in peak production.

If you have a busy week, can't take a weekday off, can't afford to spend two weeks holiday on a course or just want to have a great weekend to look forward to every few weeks, this is the course for you!  No previous permaculture experience necessary.

The weekend format gives increased opportunity for social connection, including pot luck dinners and/or films on some Friday & Saturday nights, where family and other BPG members will be invited to join us.

Presenters include Beck Lowe, Ian Lillington, Steve Burns, David Holmgren, Sonia van Dorssen, Paul Ryle, David Davidson, and a range of other local experts & specialists.  We visit many local permaculture sites, including Melliodora, home of permaculture co-founder David Holmgren.

Main course venue will be in Invermay (NE edge of Ballarat) on a local permaculture property.  Training facilities included dedicated upstairs training room & library (if stairs are a challenge, please contact us).  Property is adjacent to state forest and includes vegetable garden, berry tunnel, chicken run, fruit trees & young forest garden.  Ample parking & only 10 minutes from central Ballarat.  Pick up from Ballarat railway station possible.

Course fees: $1195 full course fee.  Concession $595  Dual bookings (couple or friends booking and paying together) $1095.

Camping on site is available at the rate of $10 per person per night.  Hot showers and refrigeration of your goodies is covered, but no catering included.   Once numbers of campers are clear, arrangements for shared cooking, etc can be arranged.  (It is likely that the majority of students will live locally and not be camping.)

Enrolments will open soon. Expressions of interest can be sent  to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Please read Conditions of Enrolment carefully before registering for course.
