Workshops

BPG runs a series of workshops and training events throughout the year.

Workshops and short courses are structured educational experiences which require payment of a fee.  Workshops can be half day, whole day or weekend.  BPG members usually receive a discount on fees.  Some workshops, such as cheese or soap making, have materials fees to cover the cost of special materials required for the workshop.  We also run two Introduction to Permaculture courses each year.

Past workshops have included:

  • Introduction to Permaculture (weekend course run twice a year)
  • Pruning
  • Grafting
  • Introduction to vegetable growing
  • Seed saving
  • Cheese making
  • Soap making
  • Kill & Dress small livestock (chickens, fish & rabbits)

You can find out about upcoming courses on our Events pages, or through our Facebook group.

As well as paid events, there are also skillshares which are free.  Skillshares are more informal and often involve helping an experienced BPG member with a practical task, such as building a shed, saving seed, preserving produce or foraging for wild mushrooms.  Some skillshares are open to all and others are exclusive to BPG members.  If you have a skill that others might like to learn, perhaps you could offer a skillshare?  It’s easy because you don’t have to formally ‘present’ or have notes, etc… just explain what you’re doing to the friendly helpers who are assisting.  In some cases, the helpers are experienced, so that’s a real bonus!  🙂
