This event will be a grafting demonstration, rather than a practical workshop. You will not take home a tree, or graft one yourself. You will be shown how to complete a whip & tongue graft and a cleft graft. These are two of the most common grafts used to add different varieties of apple to an existing tree, or create a new tree by grafting a known variety to apple rootstock.
Information will also be available about apple varieties & growing your own rootstock.
Demonstration will be given by Steve Burns, who has grafted hundreds of apple trees and is a keen advocate for the use of dwarf rootstock to allow apples to be grown in small urban gardens.
