Ballarat Permaculture Guild celebrated another milestone in August 2013 when our FaceBook group membership passed 700.
To mark the event, a competition was held where members were invited to submit responses to the question: “What does permaculture mean to me?”
With a 25 word maximum, respondents had to cut to the chase and produce succinct reflections. The administrators of the FB group each picked their top three favourite responses and, after a complex set of calculations, the winners were:
Judi “sloshing ....means sloshing around in gumboots talking about chooks and vegies and sustainability with wonderfully interesting and caring people”
[First prize winner receives a copy of “Introduction to Permaculture” plus a 12 month membership of Ballarat Permaculture Guild/ Permaculture Melbourne]
Jodie “To me it is learning how to work alongside the earth rather than exploiting it, and stretching my perception of the impact one person can make.”
Yvette “Permaculture is a lifestyle, how we live, interact, care for the earth and people. Designing my yield, interacting, observing growth, self-regulating, recycling, accepting feedback.”
[second and third prize winners receive free admission to a BPG workshop of their choice]
Our Face Book membership was 50 at the start of 2011, 300 at the end of 2011, 500 at the end of 2012 and we wonder what it will hit by the end of 2013?
