Permie Road Trip
BPG Permie Roadtrip – Saturday 29th September 2018
Allow a full day
Incorporating two “must see’ activities in the Otways.
Numbers are limited to 20.
The first is the Redwood forest just out of Beech Forest, near Hopetoun Falls. The trees are still in their infancy at only 80 years old, but are a marvel to behold with a beautiful backdrop of creeks and tree ferns.
It takes approximately 2 hours from Ballarat (through Cressy and Colac) to get there.
Entry is free. No dogs. Need sturdy footwear.
Suggest a picnic lunch in the forest, or there are local pubs. For more information go to: https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Attraction_Review-g2717670-d2716818-Reviews-The_Redwoods-Beech_Forest_Victoria.html
The second is the Melba Gully Gardens http://melbagullygardenbandb.com.au/the-garden/
It is about 20 minutes from the Redwood Forest.
This is a lovely solar powered and eco sustainable B&B with a beautiful 8 acres of gardens incorporating berry tunnels, vegetables, flowers and shrubs, fruit trees, chickens and ducks.
The owners have adopted Permaculture principles in the design and creation of their gardens cleverly combining many reused and repurposed materials.
Allow an hour at least to wander through to take it all in. Garden entry including afternoon tea is $10. Need to know Numbers and dietary requirements.
